With the daily hustle and bustle, the quest for inner peace and emotional balance is more crucial than ever.
If finding an effective technique to manage your stress and improve overall well-being is your priority, EFT Tapping is your answer.
EFT Tapping, also known as Emotional Freedom Techniques, is an alternative therapeutic technique that promotes emotional healing and awakens the hidden emotional powers.
Some people may get rapid relief from discomfort or stressors, while others could take a more gradual approach to self-improvement and inner healing.
Why is EFT Tapping meditation important?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a simple yet powerful technique that combines ancient Eastern acupressure with modern psychology.
It involves tapping on specific meridian points on the body while focusing on a specific emotion or issue.
The idea of tapping is simple - when you tap on dedicated facial tapping points, you stimulate the body's energy channels, helping to release all negative emotions or energies that are causing distress or imbalance.
By doing so, you eliminate the root cause of the issue and gain permanent relief rather than just working on the surface symptoms.
Research demonstrates that EFT can be used to treat PTSD, sadness, anxiety, and some phobias. Additionally, it has been proven beneficial for those with chronic stress, burnout symptoms, and medical labels like type 2 diabetes and thyroid (1).
The key EFT Tapping points are listed below:
- Karate chop point: This is frequently used as the introduction, where you lay out your concern or issue. It's the fleshy outer edge of your hand, where you would do a karate chop.
- Top of the head point: This is the crown of your head.
- Eyebrow point: It’s the beginning of your eyebrow, closest to your nose.
- Side of the eye point: The bone at the outer corner of your eye.
- Under the eye point: Directly beneath your eye, on the bone.
- Under the nose point: The area between your nose and upper lip.
- Upper lip chin point: The crease in your chin, below your lower lip.
- Collarbone point: The intersection of your collarbone and breastbone.
- Underarm point: About 4 inches down from your armpit, on the side of your body.
- Thumb point: The side of your thumb, where the finger pad meets the nail.
- Index finger point: The side of your index finger, where the nail and finger pad meet.
- Middle finger point: The side of your middle finger, where the finger pad meets the nail.
- Little finger point: The side of your little finger, where the nail and finger pad meet.
Benefits of EFT Tapping
The key benefits of EFT Tapping are as follows:
1.
Fast Relief
Feeling overwhelmed? EFT Tapping can help!
By tapping on specific acupressure points and focusing on intense emotions, you can experience immediate calmness and relaxation. It might sound strange, but it could be just the quick fix you need in a moment of distress.
2.
Not a One-Size-Fits-All Fix
While EFT Tapping brings quick relief sometimes, it's important to remember it's not a magic bullet. Some issues, like past traumas and ongoing health problems, require more time and practice to address. Yet, the good news is, with consistent tapping, you can always chip away all the deep-rooted memories.
3.
Uncover the Root Cause
One of the best things about EFT Tapping is how it helps you understand your emotions better. As you focus on specific feelings and tap, you gain insights into what's causing them. This newfound self-awareness empowers you to manage your emotions more effectively in the long run.
4.
Improved Emotional Regulation
Regular practice of EFT Tapping strengthens your ability to manage difficult emotions like anxiety, anger, or sadness. By tapping on specific facial points and acknowledging your present emotions, you disrupt the physical response associated with them, promoting a calmer state of mind.
5.
Reduced Stress and Improved Sleep
Chronic stress significantly impacts the quality of your sleep. This is where EFT Tapping helps address underlying worries, contributing to sleep disturbances. By promoting relaxation and emotional balance, EFT paves the way for a better sleeping schedule.
6.
Personalised Approach
Unlike medications with standardised effects, EFT Tapping allows for a personalised approach to emotional healing. You can tailor your tapping sessions to address specific emotional concerns that you're facing at any given time.
7.
Safe and Non-Invasive Technique
EFT Tapping is a safe and non-invasive technique with hardly any side effects. It can be practiced anywhere, making it a convenient and accessible tool for emotional well-being.
8.
Complements Traditional Treatments
EFT Tapping can be used alongside traditional therapies and medications to enhance their effectiveness. As the traditional treatment works on the body, EFT Tapping helps strengthen your mind and empowers you to take an active role in your own emotional healing journey.
Why should you adopt EFT Tapping?
“You don't have to solve it, only evolve with it!” A perfect example of EFT Tapping as the more you evolve into it, the more mental-related issues are solved.
The following are the reasons to try EFT Tapping on yourself:
1.
Emotions are an integral part of the human experience, but they can sometimes overwhelm you. EFT Tapping provides a safe space to acknowledge and process emotions effectively.
2.
In addition to being felt as a conglomeration of emotions and cognitive patterns, the stress reaction also shows psychological signs of an irregular neurological system. By activating acupressure points, also known as Meridians, EFT Tapping regulates your neurological system.
3.
When used in combination with other therapeutic modalities such as psychotherapy, mindfulness practices, or holistic healing treatments, EFT Tapping can be a very flexible self-help method. Many people find that combining EFT Tapping with other approaches enhances their overall well-being and accelerates their healing journey.
4.
EFT Tapping encourages you to tune into your thoughts, feelings, and bodily sensations. With regular practice, you develop a greater sense of self-awareness and cultivate a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
5.
For better results, it is advisable to concentrate on just one issue or feeling at a time. You can always tap again for the next one separately.

The 7 Steps oF EFT Tapping
The EFT Tapping statements are the phrases you use after you start tapping on the side of the hand aka Karate Chop. The reason to begin on the side of the hand is there is something known as psychological reversal, which means a block to EFT working.
By tapping on the side of the hand, you can start to negate any blocks to EFT working.
The 7 steps of EFT Tapping are as follows:
1.
Identify the Issue or Goal
First, identify the issue or goal that needs to be addressed. This could be any unsolved issue, worry, bad memory, or challenges like stress, anxiety, and depression (2).
To identify the issue, ask yourself the following questions:
- "How do you feel?"
- “What do you want?”
- “What issue do you want to solve?”
- “How does it make you feel?”
(For stress, autoimmune, and depression, I recommend you take sessions from a certified practitioner.)
2.
Get a Measure for It
On a scale of 1 to 10, give this issue a number, where 10 is uncomfortable or 1 is not uncomfortable at all. The reason you give it a number is because you want to measure the progress later.
3.
Start EFT Tapping on the Side of Your Hand
Repeat a set-up statement 3 times while tapping on the side of your hand,
“Even though I have this [problem], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
4.
Tap on the Upper Body Points
The next step is to tap on the facial and upper body points with reminder phrases. The reminder phrase is a short phrase that reminds you or your client of the problem so that it can be cleared.
The example of reminder phrases are as follows:
- Eyebrow: This stress ...
- Temple/ Side of the eye: So much stress ...
- Under the eye: This stress ...
- Under the nose: Stressed because ...
- Chin: Stressed because ...
- Collar bone: This stress ...
- Under the arm: This stress ...
- Thumb: This stress ...
- Index finger: This stress ...
- Middle finger: Stress ...
- Little finger: So stressed ...
5.
Close the Sequence
Come back to the side of the hand and say the starting phrase out loud again,
“Even though I have this [problem], I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
6.
Relax and Breathe
Breathe in and out. Take a sip of water and reflect on how you feel.
7.
Test Yourself
Finally, ask yourself the following questions,
- “How are you feeling?”
- “What happened?”
- “Do you notice any change within you?”
- “Do you feel the same, better or worse?”
If you feel better, stop. Otherwise, go back and repeat the same steps.
The timeline for seeing results with EFT Tapping can vary from person to person. Factors such as the complexity of the issue being addressed, your openness to the process, and your willingness to explore the underlying emotions all play a crucial role in the progress made.
