You Are What You Think!
Have you experienced that whenever you wanted to change something about your life, but kept finding that none of your actions lead to any permanent change?
For example, you’ve been working hard to achieve success in overcoming a destructive habit or creating more happiness, and yet cannot seem to achieve any lasting change.
Often, this is because your behaviour may have changed, but your mind hasn’t!
Our thoughts and beliefs have immense power to shape our lives. When you think of a good thought, it creates a good feeling. For example, the positive thought “I can do it!” creates a good feeling of confidence.
In turn, the good feeling leads to positive behaviours and actions, such as tackling a task which you’ve been procrastinating for a long time.
Likewise, when you think a bad thought such as “I cannot do it”, it will create a feeling of doubt and dejection.
Hence, the behaviours become mirrored in our lives by the thoughts that we think, and as a result, you might continue to procrastinate more on completing a particular task.
In the words of Henry Ford,
“If you think you can, you can. If you think you cannot, you will prove it to yourself.”
In Bruce H. Lipton’s book The Biology of Belief, the author delves into detail about the power of conscious and subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind is hundreds of thousands of times more powerful than the conscious mind, as it affects most of the decisions we make in our lives according to the beliefs that are held by the subconscious.
Many times, we fail to change an unpleasant habit despite our willpower and consistent efforts.
This is because the habit has been so strongly ingrained and programmed in our subconscious mind, that the efforts made by our conscious mind will hardly make any effect on changing the habit.

For example, on your computer, there is a document which displays some text that you don’t like.
If you repeatedly ask the computer to change the text on the document, it won’t be able to do so.
